Béchamel Sauce

Béchamel is best used to add a creamy texture to pasta dishes like lasagna and manicotti.


You will need:

  • 6 tbsp butter

  • 4 tbsp flour

  • 2 cups of milk

  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg

Prep Instructions:

  1. In a medium sauce pot, slowly melt butter without browning.

  2. Once butter is melted, mix in your flower till a thin beige paste is formed.

  3. While whisking, slowly pour in milk and continue whisking till all clumps are gone.

  4. Cook on medium low heat and continue to whisk until the sauce thickens and you can no longer taste flour in the sauce.

  5. Mix in nutmeg

  6. Use as a base for many Italian dishes or as a base for a great cheese sauce.
